The position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver within Performance Foodservice is integral to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the nation's food supply chain. Delivery drivers serve as the frontline representatives of the company, directly interacting with customers to ensure timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and food-related products. This role requires operating various types of vehicles, such as tractor trailers or straight trucks, on both intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop routes.
Drivers adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations and company guidelines to guarantee the secure transport of goods. Responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, handling loading and unloading tasks, verifying freight counts, obtaining customer signatures for deliveries, and managing any necessary paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail. The role also involves customer service, requiring professional communication and rapport-building skills to provide the best possible experience for clients.
Performance Foodservice offers competitive compensation, with an average pay range between $75,000 and $100,000+ annually, including uncapped pay potential. Additional incentives consist of a $5,000 sign-on bonus, quarterly safety bonuses, unlimited referral bonuses of $2,500 per referral, and per diem and overnight compensation averaging approximately $145. The standard work schedule typically follows a 4- or 5-day workweek, with up to two nights away from home per week and options for additional days. The company equips its drivers with new equipment to support their work efficiently and safely.
This role is ideal for professional drivers who meet the qualifications of holding a valid CDL A license, possess at least 12 months of commercial driving experience, and have a proven safe driving record. It offers opportunities for growth and development while contributing meaningfully to a vital service industry. Performance Foodservice is committed to equal employment opportunity and embraces diversity and inclusion in its workforce, ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
By joining Performance Foodservice as a delivery driver, individuals become essential contributors to America's food distribution system, supporting communities and businesses with dependable service and a focus on safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction. This career path provides not only competitive earnings and robust benefits but also the chance to be part of a dynamic company dedicated to excellence and the success of its customers.
