Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor with a distinctive approach to servicing a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company's strength lies in its team of experts comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists who collaboratively work to build strong relationships with each customer. Their goal goes beyond merely delivering food; they offer comprehensive advice on operations improvement, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies, empowering independent restaurant owners and other clients to grow and succeed. With a commitment to exceptional service and quality, Performance Foodservice plays a vital role in supporting America's food supply chain through its extensive distribution network and innovative solutions.

This role offers full-time employment with an average annual salary range of $75,000 to $100,000 plus, featuring uncapped pay potential. In addition to competitive pay, the company rewards its employees with quarterly safety bonuses and unlimited referral bonuses, which can earn drivers $2,500 per referral. The work schedule typically consists of a 4- or 5-day week, with additional days available and up to two nights out per week. Drivers receive approximately $145 for per diem and overnight compensation. New drivers are also eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, provided they have not worked for a PFG-owned company within the past six months. The company invests in new equipment to support its workforce, fostering a safe and productive working environment.

The position of Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is critical in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the nation’s food distribution system. Delivery drivers are entrusted with the responsibility of transporting food and food-related products safely and on schedule, often driving tractor trailers or straight trucks. These routes can include intrastate and interstate travel, local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) assignments, shuttle routes, overnight deliveries, and drive-and-drop operations.

Beyond the mechanical duties of driving, delivery drivers serve as the face of the company to customers, building lasting relationships by ensuring trustworthy, professional, and consistent service. Drivers conduct thorough safety inspections of their vehicles, comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and follow company policies to guarantee that freight is transported securely. Accurate completion of paperwork, customers' signatures verification, and collection of payments are also vital components of the role.

Delivery drivers also actively participate in inventory management during loading and unloading, checking for damage, ensuring correct product counts, and adhering to company policies on returns and damaged goods. Maintaining clean and orderly equipment and workspaces is also expected. This role demands physical capability as drivers often manually handle freight, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, to move and stack products ranging in weight, sometimes up to 90 pounds.

Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment, emphasizing recognition, rewards, and professional growth. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including day-one health and wellness benefits, a robust employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, and generous paid time off. This opportunity is well-suited for candidates seeking a stable, rewarding career in a vital sector with significant earning potential and career advancement pathways.
