Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a broadline distributor specializing in the delivery of high-quality food and foodservice products to a diverse range of customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG has built a strong reputation for not only supplying products but also providing expert advice through a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other professionals. This team works closely with customers to improve operations, aid menu development, assist in product selection, and devise operational strategies that support business growth. By focusing on customer relationships, Performance Foodservice helps independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their culinary and business goals, adding value beyond the mere supply of goods.
The company emphasizes a safe, inclusive, and rewarding working environment, promoting a culture of respect, recognition, and employee development. Employees benefit from a robust package that includes competitive pay, health and wellness benefits starting from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and additional perks. Performance Foodservice is committed to equal employment opportunities, welcoming applicants and employees from diverse backgrounds without discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or other protected categories.
The role of Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is pivotal to the company’s mission of maintaining America’s food distribution system. Delivery drivers are essential in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of food products, handling freight with care to maintain product quality from warehouse to client. They are frontline representatives of the company, fostering strong relationships with customers through professional interaction and reliable service.
This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop deliveries. Drivers adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety protocols, performing necessary inspections and safety checks before, during, and after trips. Duties include loading, unloading, securing freight, and ensuring accurate paperwork processing. Delivery Drivers also manage customer interactions by verifying deliveries, collecting payments when required, and handling product returns.
Beyond transportation, the role demands physical stamina to handle product cases that range in weight and dimensions, often requiring the use of equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. Drivers work within a 5-day workweek, with scheduling from Monday to Saturday and variable dispatch times. The position offers an earning potential upward of $90,000 annually, alongside a $2,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.
By joining Performance Foodservice as a Delivery Driver, candidates enter a dynamic and rewarding field where every delivery supports the essential food supply chain with safety, professionalism, and customer-focused service.
