Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor known for its strong relationships with a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Performance Foodservice is recognized for its comprehensive support system where a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts collaborate closely with clients. They provide valuable advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning, helping independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their business goals and dreams. This company delivers not just food but a complete service package that enhances customers' operational efficiency and success.

The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal position within the company, essential for fulfilling the nation’s food supply demands. This role focuses on safely and efficiently driving tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products across intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. The driver acts as the face of the company by maintaining professional and courteous communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers alike, which fosters lasting and positive relationships. The position offers competitive pay starting from $88,000 annually after the completion of the training period, with a work schedule primarily from Monday through Friday, including occasional Saturdays, and specific dispatch hours from midnight to 6 a.m., with availability required for layover routes.

This role demands a high level of responsibility, including completing mandatory safety inspections of the tractor, trailer, and freight to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. Drivers must monitor and report any vehicle or safety issues promptly and adhere strictly to DOT rules and company policies regarding safe driving and freight handling. In addition to driving duties, the CDL-A Driver assists with the loading and unloading of deliveries, ensuring items are delivered in perfect condition, accurately documented, and properly secured. Drivers are responsible for verifying deliveries with customers, obtaining signatures, handling payments, and managing customer returns, demonstrating accountability and integrity throughout their routes.

Performance Foodservice not only offers competitive pay but comprehensive benefit offerings, including day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and additional perks designed to support employee growth and well-being. The company prides itself on providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment that fosters a culture of rewards and recognition. Career growth is emphasized, with opportunities to develop within the food distribution sector, contributing vitally to supporting America’s food system. Candidates can expect a dynamic and professional atmosphere where their efforts are crucial to community food delivery and customer satisfaction.
