The company prides itself on its unique relationship with local customers, supported by a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts who provide personalized advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. PFG emphasizes not only delivering delicious food but also helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers achieve their business goals and dreams through exceptional service and support.

Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment where employees are recognized and rewarded for their contributions. The company offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits starting from the first day of employment, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. With growth opportunities embedded in the role, employees have a chance to contribute meaningfully to America’s food distribution system, which is essential to sustaining communities and the economy.

The CDL-A Driver position is crucial in supporting the company’s mission by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products. Drivers act as the face of the company, building long-lasting relationships with customers through professionalism and dependable service. This role requires operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, covering local, shuttle, overnight, and over-the-road (OTR) deliveries. Drivers must comply fully with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while performing their duties safely and efficiently.

The position offers an annual salary range of $80,000 to $85,000, with a work schedule from Sunday to Thursday, dispatching after 7 pm, and a 4-5 day work week. Additionally, employees are eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000, split into $3,000 after 90 days and $7,000 upon completing one year, subject to eligibility criteria and terms. This incentive is not available to individuals who have worked for any PFG-owned company within the past six months.

The CDL-A Driver’s responsibilities include performing and documenting mandatory safety inspections of trucks and trailers before and after trips, ensuring freight is properly loaded, counted, and secured. Drivers maintain accurate records in compliance with DOT and company policies, identify and report safety hazards, unload damaged or returned goods, and support trailer cleanliness and maintenance tasks. Effective communication with customers, vendors, and team members is essential in this role to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

Candidates for this role must have at least one year of commercial driving experience, be at least 21 years old, and meet all relevant state licensing and certification requirements. Additional requirements include passing a pre-employment drug test, road test, and meeting PFG’s Motor Vehicle Report and FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements. Physical ability to handle freight weighting between 60 to 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers or lift gates is mandatory, along with proficiency in English for clear communication and paperwork completion.

Overall, this position is ideal for dedicated professionals seeking a rewarding career path with one of the nation’s top food distribution companies.
