Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor that plays a vital role in supporting America's food supply chain. The company serves a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Performance Foodservice excels in building close relationships with customers through a team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts. This team offers valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies, helping independent restaurant owners and food service operators achieve their business goals and deliver delicious food to their customers. The distributor prides itself on going beyond delivery by providing comprehensive support that helps customers grow and succeed in the highly competitive foodservice industry.
An exemplary work culture defines Performance Foodservice, focusing on rewarding employees, recognizing their contributions, and fostering an inclusive environment where safety and respect are paramount. The company provides competitive pay and extensive benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. These benefits support employee growth and well-being, making the company a desirable place to build a career.
The role being offered is for a CDL-A Driver position, a vital part of the company’s distribution operations. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products across interstate and intrastate routes. This position requires adherence to strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company guidelines to ensure safe, timely, and precise delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service. Scheduled workdays include mandatory shifts on Monday, Friday, and Saturday, with dispatch hours between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM, and days off on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
This job demands a high level of professionalism as drivers are often the face of the company to customers and vendors. Drivers must perform thorough safety inspections before and after trips, verify loaded freight accuracy, properly secure cargo, and maintain all necessary documentation. They are responsible for safe driving, timely deliveries, unloading and loading products, handling customer returns, collecting payments when required, and ensuring compliance with DOT hours of service regulations. Beyond driving, this role includes general housekeeping duties for the tractor and trailers, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and participating actively as a team member within the organization.
Performance Foodservice offers growth opportunities in a critical industry sector, emphasizing a safe and inclusive work environment. The company is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of demographics or personal characteristics protected under the law, fostering diversity and equality among its workforce.
