The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a vital role in America’s food supply chain. This role is integral to ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely, timely, and in excellent condition to various customers. The driver serves as the company’s frontline representative, building lasting relationships with customers through professional interactions. This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. The CDL-A driver must adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, conduct comprehensive pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintain accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards.

Drivers are responsible for verifying freight load security, conducting accurate product counts against customer invoices, and managing the safe unloading of damaged goods and returns. The role requires proficiency with equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight often weighing between 60 to 90 pounds. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday with dispatch times between 3 to 5 am, offering earning potential upwards of $90,000 annually.
