With routes located in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, US Foods operates with a strong regional presence, helping foodservice operators stay ahead of customer demand while ensuring reliable delivery and service excellence.
This position is for a Commercial Driver at US Foods, a vital role responsible for safely transporting food products to various customers. The role is full-time with a 5-6 day schedule that includes weekends, offering a unique opportunity for daily home return. The driver will be expected to work 12-14 hour shifts with 10-15 stops per day. The pay rate is $315 per day plus case pay. Eligible new hires may qualify for significant hiring bonuses ranging up to $20,000, depending on their commercial food delivery experience.
The Commercial Driver at US Foods plays an essential part in the overall supply chain, ensuring that deliveries are made accurately and on time. Responsibilities include safely operating trucks to deliver products, unloading effectively using pallet jacks or hand methods, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, and handling necessary collections and payments when applicable. This role demands strong customer service skills to enhance the client experience and requires thorough pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to maintain safety and compliance.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 20 to over 80 pounds repetitively throughout each shift. Drivers must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and handling frequent stops. The role also requires compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, including registration in the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
Ideal candidates will be at least 21 years old, possess a valid CDL Class A license with the required endorsements for their state of residence, and have commercial driving experience – preferably within the food and beverage delivery industry. The ability to operate a manual transmission truck is preferred and may be required at some locations. English communication skills are necessary to understand traffic signs, communicate with customers and dispatch, and complete required documentation accurately.
US Foods values its employees and offers a range of benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and employee stock purchase plans. The company maintains a strong commitment to equal employment opportunity for all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, genetic information, veteran status, or disability. With an emphasis on a respectful and supportive workplace, US Foods ensures drivers are part of a community dedicated to excellence and integrity, helping them to build successful, long-term careers in the foodservice industry.
