Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a premier broadline food distributor that supports a diverse range of customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on fostering long-lasting relationships with its customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. These professionals provide more than just product delivery; they offer valuable advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. Performance Foodservice aims to help independent restaurant owners thrive by delivering not only high-quality food but also exceptional service and support. The company's commitment to excellence is reflected in its inclusive workplace culture that values safety, respect, and recognition for team members.

The CDL-A Driver position within Performance Foodservice plays an essential role in ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of food and food service products across intrastate and interstate routes. This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. Drivers are responsible for delivering products to customers punctually and in good condition, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. As the direct representatives of the company, CDL-A Drivers build strong customer relationships by providing professional communication, timely service, and reliable deliveries.

This role offers competitive compensation, with an average annual pay range of $75,000 to $100,000 plus uncapped earning potential. Additional incentives such as quarterly safety bonuses, unlimited referral bonuses ($2,500 per referral), and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for drivers with over one year of CDL A experience enhance the overall benefits package. The schedule typically involves a 4- or 5-day workweek, with up to two nights out per week, and includes a per diem and overnight compensation of approximately $145.

CDL-A Drivers are responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of their vehicles to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. They must verify that freight is properly loaded, secured, and matches customer orders, including accurate paperwork completion. Throughout their routes, they uphold safety protocols, manage delivery documentation, unload damaged goods or returns, and maintain cleanliness in their trailers. Drivers must comply with hours of service regulations and uphold all company policies to maintain a safe and efficient delivery operation.

Performance Foodservice fosters a supportive working environment that promotes career growth, health and wellness benefits starting on day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and generous paid time off. The company is committed to equal employment opportunity and maintains a culture of diversity and inclusion where all employees are respected and recognized for their contributions. Joining Performance Foodservice as a CDL-A Driver offers a meaningful and rewarding career path that supports America's food distribution system while providing excellent benefits and earning potential.
