Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), is renowned for its pivotal role in America’s food distribution system. The company caters to a diverse clientele including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG leverages a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry specialists who foster close and trusting relationships with each customer. This enables the company to go beyond merely delivering quality food — they provide expert advice on menu development, operational strategies, and product selection, helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice businesses achieve and grow their professional dreams. Performance Foodservice emphasizes a culture marked by safety, respect, inclusivity, and recognition. The company offers a safe and rewarding workplace environment where employees are valued and empowered to contribute to the essential functions of foodservice logistics and delivery.

The position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is an integral role responsible for ensuring that food-related products are transported safely and timely to customers. Operating from the new warehouse located at 8600 Springdale Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63134, this role requires commitment to scheduled working hours primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays involving early morning shifts. The company offers a competitive pay package, including a remarkable $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, along with day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and many other comprehensive benefits.

Delivery Drivers for Performance Foodservice drive tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes. Duties include local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight deliveries, ensuring the secure and accurate transport of food products. Drivers uphold strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies to maintain the highest safety and operational standards. Beyond logistics, the driver serves as the face of the company, building positive relationships with customers through professional interactions, timely deliveries, and excellent service.

The role demands proficiency in vehicle inspection, safety compliance, cargo handling, meticulous paperwork management, and customer service. Drivers perform pre-and post-trip inspections, monitor and report any safety or mechanical concerns, ensure freight is properly loaded and secured, and verify deliveries with customers upon arrival. They also handle cash or check transactions when necessary, manage customer returns, and maintain cleanliness and order of equipment and trailers. Work schedules often require flexibility and adherence to Federal and state regulations for logging hours of service and maintaining valid health certifications.

Performance Foodservice fosters growth opportunities within the company, supporting employee development in a stable, inclusive, and progressive work culture. By joining this team, an individual steps into an essential role contributing not only to the company’s success but also to the broader community’s access to quality food products.
