The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a critical position that supports the country’s food supply chain by delivering food and food service products safely and timely to a wide range of customers. Drivers are the face of the company and play a vital part in maintaining strong relationships with customers through professional handling of deliveries and excellent customer service. This position offers competitive compensation with an average annual pay range between $90,000 and $110,000. Pay is based on factors such as cases, miles, stops, and dispatch fees, with a daily minimum that progresses as performance standards are met. Employment is primarily Monday through Friday with some Saturdays required and dispatch times ranging from midnight to 8 am, mostly starting between 4 am and 6 am.

The CDL-A Driver responsibilities include operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, overnight, shuttle, and drive-and-drop routes. Drivers must comply with Department of Transportation regulations by performing all required vehicle safety inspections, completing accurate delivery paperwork, and ensuring freight is properly loaded, secured, and unloaded. Duties extend to interacting professionally with customers and co-workers, maintaining safety standards, managing delivery documentation, handling customer payments where necessary, and keeping the equipment and loading areas clean and organized. Drivers must be physically capable of handling freight items that typically range from 10 to 35 pounds and up to about 60 to 90 pounds depending on the location, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
