Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a prominent broadline distributor servicing a diverse clientele across the United States. The company specializes in delivering a comprehensive range of food and food-related products to various local businesses, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a dedicated team comprised of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts, Performance Foodservice not only ensures timely and quality product delivery but also supports clients by offering valuable advice on menu development, operational efficiency, and product selection. The organization has built a reputation for excellence by fostering strong, trusting relationships with its customers and enabling independent restaurant owners to thrive in an increasingly competitive market.

Performance Foodservice values inclusivity, safety, and employee recognition, creating a work environment that promotes respect and professional growth. The company provides equal employment opportunities consistent with federal, state, and local laws, ensuring a diverse workforce. Employees benefit from a range of advantages including competitive pay, health provisions from day one, 401K employer matching, stock purchase plans, education support, and paid time off.

The CDL-A Driver role is a vital part of Performance Foodservice’s operations, acting as a cornerstone in America’s food supply chain. The position primarily involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, long-haul over-the-road (OTR) assignments, shuttle runs, overnight routes, and drive-and-drop schedules. Drivers play an essential role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of products while upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Drivers are not simply couriers; they represent the face of the company by fostering positive customer interactions and building lasting relationships. Beyond driving, the role involves performing detailed pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, securing freight, verifying loads against invoices, and completing accurate paperwork. Drivers must also manage equipment unloading processes and adhere to record-keeping and hours-of-service regulations.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to over $100,000 annually with additional uncapped pay potential through quarterly safety and unlimited referral bonuses. Drivers receive around $145 for per diem and overnight compensation, plus new equipment and a $5,000 sign-on bonus for those with more than one year of CDL-A experience, excluding those recently employed by any PFG-owned company. The workweek can be structured as four or five days, with additional days available and up to two nights out per week.

Overall, the role demands professionalism, reliability, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to safety and customer service. Performance Foodservice’s CDL-A Drivers are critical to sustaining the seamless operation of the company’s supply chain, directly contributing to the successful delivery of food products across the nation, supporting local economies, and ensuring client satisfaction at every step.
