Job Description
Performance Food Group (PFG) is a leading broadline distributor committed to delivering exceptional foodservice solutions across the United States. The company works closely with a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG's team of skilled sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts collaborate extensively with customers to enhance their operations, provide expert menu development guidance, assist in product selection, and optimize operational strategies. This customer-centric approach ensures that PFG doesn't just supply food products but also plays a vital role in helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice operators achieve their goals and grow their businesses.
The company takes pride in fostering a safe, inclusive, and rewarding working environment. Employees benefit from a culture that emphasizes respect, recognition, and professional growth. PFG offers attractive pay and comprehensive benefits, including day-one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, a 401K plan with employer matching, education assistance programs, and paid time off. Additionally, PFG supports growth opportunities for employees contributing essential work that sustains America's food distribution network.
The CDL-A Driver position is an integral role within the organization, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products. Drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks within intrastate and interstate routes, engaging in local and over-the-road (OTR) deliveries, shuttle runs, and overnight trips. This role demands a high level of professionalism, safety compliance, and customer service, as drivers frequently interact directly with customers, vendors, and co-workers. As the face of PFG, drivers help build and maintain lasting customer relationships through reliable delivery and courteous service.
Key responsibilities include conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles and trailers following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, securely handling freight, completing accurate shipping documentation, and adhering to hours-of-service rules. Drivers must ensure all products are delivered in good condition, safely secure the cargo, unload damaged returns, and maintain cleanliness of their equipment. The position also requires compliance with company policies, participation in team efforts, and the flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned to support company objectives.
This role is scheduled Sunday through Thursday with dispatching after 7 pm, averaging a 4-5 day workweek. The annual compensation ranges from $80,000 to $85,000, complemented by a $10,000 sign-on bonus distributed in phases (with eligibility restrictions based on recent employment history with PFG-related companies). Candidates must meet various licensing and certification requirements, pass pre-employment screenings, and demonstrate the ability to handle physical aspects of the job using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. English language proficiency and the ability to work the assigned schedule are mandatory.
Working for Performance Foodservice means joining a respected leader that values equal employment opportunity and creates a supportive workplace protecting against discrimination on any legally protected characteristic. PFG's commitment to inclusivity, professional development, and employee well-being makes this CDL-A Driver position an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals looking to advance their career in the food distribution sector.
