Job Description

Food Bank of Central New York is a well-established not-for-profit organization dedicated to combating hunger throughout Central and Northern New York. The organization operates through strong community partnerships, collaborating with over 360 agencies across multiple counties including Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence. These partners range from food pantries and soup kitchens to emergency shelters and other nonprofit organizations such as day care centers, rehabilitation centers, senior centers, and group homes. By supporting these agencies, Food Bank of Central New York ensures that nutritious food reaches vulnerable populations and helps address food insecurity in the region. The organization emphasizes education, advocacy, and food distribution as the core means to achieve its mission. Their vision is a community where no one is hungry and everyone has access to nutritious food.

The CDL-A Delivery Driver plays a crucial role within the Transportation Department, working full-time, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., ensuring the timely, safe, and efficient transportation of food products to various distribution points and partner agencies. This position involves operating Class A commercial vehicles, performing routine vehicle safety inspections, loading and unloading deliveries, and maintaining thorough delivery and driving records. The driver will communicate consistently with warehouse staff and partner agencies to coordinate pickups and deliveries, providing exceptional customer service and representing the Food Bank professionally. The role is designed for someone who can thrive in a structured environment without nights, overnights, or weekend shifts and who values contributing meaningfully to a mission-driven organization.

Working as a CDL-A Delivery Driver at Food Bank of Central New York not only involves the physical task of driving but also supporting the broader goal of eliminating hunger in the region. Candidates will have the opportunity to engage in ongoing training related to food safety, handle inventory assistance as needed, and contribute to a passionate team that impacts the lives of thousands of people facing food insecurity. The organization offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $27.81 to $28.00 and provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, paid holidays, a 401(k) plan with employer match, and additional perks such as a $100 annual boot credit.
