Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor known for its strong commitment to serving a diverse clientele that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on building long-lasting relationships with its customers through a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts. This team is focused not only on delivering quality food products but also on providing valuable advice that helps improve operational efficiencies, menu development, and strategic product selection. Performance Foodservice is recognized for its dedication to helping independent restaurant owners fulfill their aspirations, supporting the backbone of America’s foodservice industry with superior service and innovative solutions. The culture at Performance Foodservice emphasizes inclusion, respect, and rewards, making it a great place to grow professionally.

The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is central to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the food supply chain. This role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks over intrastate and interstate routes, including local, shuttle, overnight, and over-the-road (OTR) assignments. Drivers operate primarily during early morning hours, with dispatch times ranging from midnight to 8 a.m., and most routes departing between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Compensation is highly competitive, with average annual pay ranging from $90,000 to $110,000. Drivers are compensated based on cases delivered, miles driven, stops made, and dispatch fees, with a progression daily minimum to ensure consistent earnings.

Beyond driving, the CDL-A Driver acts as the face of the company, interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to foster positive relationships. Responsibilities include conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, reporting maintenance and safety issues promptly, and ensuring that all freight is securely loaded and delivered in excellent condition. Drivers are required to complete accurate paperwork related to deliveries and freight, manage customer interactions including the collection of payments when necessary, and uphold high standards of vehicle and equipment cleanliness and safety.

This role also demands physical stamina and the ability to handle products typically ranging from 10 to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 to 90 pounds, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. A successful candidate must be able to operate within safety guidelines, contribute to a team-oriented work environment, and maintain excellent driving and customer service standards at all times. The company supports its employees with extensive benefits starting from day one, including health and wellness programs, a 401K with employer matching, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off, and education assistance.

This position offers substantial growth opportunities for individuals committed to supporting America’s food distribution system through essential and rewarding work in a safe and inclusive environment. Performance Foodservice is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and complies fully with all applicable EEO laws and regulations.
