The US Foods Driver position in Madison, WI, is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the food service distribution industry. This role involves safely operating trucks to deliver products to various customers while ensuring timely and accurate deliveries. Drivers will be responsible for unloading products using manual tools such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks and placing items in designated storage areas. Customer interaction is a critical part of this role, as drivers verify delivery accuracy, collect signatures, handle payments when applicable, and provide exceptional customer service to enhance client experience.

This job is scheduled for four 10-hour days per week, Monday through Friday, with a shift start between 2am and 5am. Overtime is available after 10 hours per day. Compensation for this role depends on relevant experience, education, skills, and geographic location, with an expected base rate of $34.04 per hour. In addition to competitive pay, this position is eligible for a $5000 retention bonus. The role requires physical endurance including the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 20 to over 80 pounds of product repeatedly throughout the shift. The position demands a high level of professionalism, reliability, and the ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements issued by their state of legal residence, and have the required DOT qualifications. A minimum of six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months specifically in food/beverage delivery is required. The ability to operate a manual transmission is preferred and may be required at certain locations. Proficiency in English is necessary for roadside communication, understanding safety signage, completing reports, and engaging effectively with customers and team members.

Job Duties

  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
