Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), is a trusted partner to a diverse customer base that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. As a company, Performance Foodservice prides itself on establishing strong, collaborative relationships with its customers to support their operational success. The company’s team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and specialists work closely with clients to provide expert advice on enhancing operations, menu development, product selection, and optimizing overall business strategies. Through this comprehensive support, Performance Foodservice not only delivers quality food products but also empowers small business owners to realize their culinary and entrepreneurial aspirations.

This particular role is an entry-level Driver Trainee opportunity designed for individuals wanting to grow within the food distribution industry. The position offers a structured training program where the trainee learns to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks both intrastate and interstate. Trainees are involved in local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight delivery routes with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and excellent customer service. The work schedule generally spans 4 to 5 days a week from Monday through Saturday, beginning early in the morning and continuing until the day's deliveries are complete. After successful training, the position offers an average weekly pay of $1,600, with competitive benefits starting from day one. The company promotes a supportive and safe work environment rich in growth opportunities to support America’s essential food distribution system.

The Driver Trainee role requires diligence and keen adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, safety protocols, and company policies. Trainees work under the guidance of experienced drivers and engage in hands-on delivery activities, including conducting safety vehicle inspections, securing freight, managing delivery documentation, unloading products at customer locations, and maintaining clear communication with customers and internal teams. This position is critical in helping maintain the seamless flow of food products across various sectors and communities served by Performance Foodservice. The company culture values respect, recognition, and teamwork, creating an inclusive atmosphere where employees are motivated to succeed and advance their careers. Overall, this role is ideal for entry-level candidates eager to build a career in logistics and transportation within the dynamic foodservice distribution industry.
