The Delivery Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a crucial position that supports America’s food supply chain by ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery of food and related products. The job requires operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. Working Monday through Friday with dispatch times typically scheduled between 4 AM and 6 AM, the position offers an average annual salary of approximately $70,000. Delivery drivers act as vital ambassadors of the company, not only transporting goods but also building lasting relationships with customers by providing excellent service and professional interactions. Key responsibilities involve performing mandatory safety inspections pre- and post-trip to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, handling freight securely, and maintaining accurate records and paperwork associated with deliveries. Drivers must follow stringent company safety guidelines and DOT regulations, ensure the proper loading and unloading of freight, collect payment as needed, and manage customer returns. The role demands physical capability, including manual handling of product cases typically ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. Maintaining a clean, organized work environment and completing all required documentation to federal and company standards is also essential. The position is ideal for candidates with a valid CDL A license, one year of commercial driving experience, and commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service excellence. This position offers ample growth opportunities within a company dedicated to nurturing its employees and supporting their long-term success.
