Job Description
Performance Foodservice, part of Performance Food Group, is a leading broadline distributor serving a diverse range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Known for its commitment to quality and customer service, Performance Foodservice builds strong partnerships by providing expert advice on operations, menu development, and product selection. This dedication enables the company to support the success and growth of foodservice businesses across various sectors.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position within the food distribution supply chain. This role offers a competitive annual guarantee of $96,200 with a Monday through Friday schedule, ensuring drivers are home daily. Dispatch times are early mornings, between 3am and 6am, reflecting the company's commitment to timely delivery. As a CDL-A Driver, you will be responsible for operating straight trucks or tractor trailers to deliver food and food-related products safely and efficiently across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight assignments.
In this position, you will be the essential link between Performance Foodservice and its customers. Your professional interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers helps maintain and build lasting relationships that are crucial for ongoing business success. Responsibilities include performing all required safety checks and inspections following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring the tractor-trailer and cargo meet safety and quality standards, and executing deliveries in a timely manner. You will also handle freight loading, unloading, and securing, paperwork completion, and customer verification, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment that values rewards, recognition, and growth opportunities. Drivers play an essential role not only in maintaining the supply chain that supports America’s food system but also in representing the company’s values and commitment to excellent service. The role demands reliability, professionalism, and a strong safety focus, contributing to a culture where employees are respected and acknowledged for their critical contributions.
The company’s extensive benefits package includes day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, among others. This comprehensive support reflects Performance Foodservice’s dedication to its workforce and commitment to employee well-being and career development. If you are looking to join a company where your role as a CDL-A Driver is valued and you have the chance to grow while supporting an essential industry, this opportunity is ideal.
