Job Description
Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor under the PFG umbrella, specializing in supplying a diverse array of foodservice establishments across the United States. Their customer base is as varied as it is extensive, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself not only on delivering top-quality food products but also on cultivating strong, lasting relationships with clients. This is accomplished through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts who provide comprehensive support including menu development, operational advice, product selection, and strategic growth insights. This approach positions Performance Foodservice as a trusted partner in the success of independent restaurant owners and other foodservice operators, helping them realize their ambitions through superior service and expertise.
The company seeks to employ CDL-A Drivers who play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain. This is a full-time role with a schedule from Sunday to Thursday, working the late-night shift from 10 pm to 4 am. With a competitive salary range from $85,000 to $110,000 annually, the position offers not just financial rewards but extensive benefits from the first day of employment such as health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Beyond monetary compensation, drivers have opportunities for career advancement and are supported by a workplace culture rooted in safety, inclusiveness, respect, and recognition.
The CDL-A Driver’s responsibility primarily revolves around the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of food and related products to local, inter-state, and over-the-road destinations. These drivers do more than just deliver; they embody the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. The role entails driving a tractor trailer or straight truck to various customers, executing shuttle and drive-and-drop routes, while strictly adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
Key aspects of the job include performing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle to uphold stringent safety standards, managing the loading and unloading of freight with attention to detail and damage prevention, and completing all required delivery documentation accurately. Drivers are also tasked with engaging professionally with customers and associates, acting as vital representatives of the company on the front lines. Handling transactions when necessary and ensuring that all driver logs and hours of service are fully compliant with federal and state laws highlight the thoroughness the company demands.
This position suits those who are not only skilled in commercial driving but also have a strong work ethic and a customer-focused mindset. Being physically capable of handling product cases that vary in weight, operating equipment like hand trucks and lift gates, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment are integral to success. Performance Foodservice values experience, encouraging applicants with extensive tractor-trailer expertise and touch freight experience to bring their talents to a company deeply committed to growth, safety, and the American food service industry.
