Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), stands as a leading broadline food distributor with a solid commitment to supporting a diverse range of local customers. These include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company distinguishes itself by fostering strong relationships with its customers through its dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists. These professionals collaborate closely with clients to offer expert guidance on various aspects such as improving operations, menu development, product selections, and overall operational strategies. This approach not only ensures the delivery of high-quality food products but also empowers independent restaurant owners to realize and achieve their business aspirations.
Performance Foodservice is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment for its employees while providing competitive pay and comprehensive benefits. The company offers an average salary ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually for its CDL-A Delivery Driver roles. Employees benefit from a work schedule featuring 4-day routes with shifts starting at midnight, and they enjoy Wednesdays off. Additionally, a sign-on bonus of $7,500 is available for eligible new hires, making it an attractive opportunity for qualified professionals who have not been employed by a PFG-owned company within the past six months.
This specific role is critical within the food supply chain, as CDL-A Delivery Drivers are responsible for transporting food and food-related products safely and efficiently across intrastate and interstate routes. Drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. Their responsibilities extend beyond just driving; they are the face of the company to customers and are entrusted with maintaining excellent customer relations through timely deliveries and professional service.
The role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines. Drivers conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, trailers, and freight to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. They also manage all necessary paperwork and verify deliveries with customers. Operational tasks include loading and unloading merchandise, securing freight, handling returns, and maintaining cleanliness and order in their work environment.
Performance Foodservice offers its employees a safe, inclusive workplace culture that emphasizes rewards, recognition, and respect. Benefits include day-one health and wellness packages, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company values growth and development, providing employees with opportunities to advance while contributing significantly to America's food distribution system.
Overall, this CDL-A Delivery Driver position at Performance Foodservice provides a rewarding career path for experienced commercial drivers who seek stable employment, competitive compensation, and the chance to be a key player in the essential task of food distribution across the country.
