The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is pivotal to ensuring the seamless delivery of food and food-related products. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. Drivers are responsible for adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, maintaining safety standards, and managing accurate documentation related to freight. Beyond transportation duties, these drivers act as ambassadors for Performance Foodservice, representing the company’s values and fostering positive customer relations. The role requires early morning dispatch times between 3-5am from Monday to Friday and offers earning potential exceeding $90,000 annually. Job Requirements
- must be 21 years of age
- 1 year commercial driving experience
- meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- meet PFG motor vehicle report requirements for past 3 years
- pass pre-employment drug test
- meet PFG FMCSA clearinghouse requirements
- pass road test
- able to secure new DOT medical card
- able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases of varying size and weight
- must be able to work assigned schedule
- ability to read, write and communicate in English
- English language proficiency is required

Job Duties
- perform required safety checks including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies and report safety hazards immediately
- inspect trailers to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured and perform count checks of items with customer invoices
- ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured at all times and unload damaged goods and returns completing necessary paperwork
- comply with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements adhering to DOT, state, and company policies
- uphold overall safety standards and proper handling of freight throughout delivery process
- perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards
