The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal role within the company’s food supply chain. Drivers are tasked with ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers while serving as the face of PFG. Based in Dover, FL, this role offers competitive pay ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually depending on route and schedule, with an opportunity for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on verifiable foodservice delivery experience. The schedule typically spans Monday through Saturday with alternating Saturdays off, and dispatch times vary between 12:30 am and 5:30 am, with routes averaging 10 to 12 hours. The CDL-A Driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across local, intrastate, interstate, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. These drivers make important safety checks on vehicles and freight, adhere to Department of Transportation regulations, and are expected to maintain professionalism and effective communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues. The role demands physical capability for loading and unloading freight, securing loads, completing accurate delivery documentation, and managing returns or damaged goods as needed. This position not only requires excellent driving skills but also a customer-oriented mindset to ensure a positive delivery experience. Drivers in this role help uphold the company’s reputation by fostering reliable and trustworthy relationships with a wide range of customers across multiple sectors. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 12+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Qualifications

  • Foodservice/beverage delivery experience and touch freight delivery experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
  • Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
  • Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
