The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a crucial position responsible for supporting the country's food supply chain through the safe and timely delivery of food and related products. This position offers an average annual salary ranging from $90,000 to $100,000 and follows a Monday to Friday work schedule with dispatches typically occurring between 4 AM to 5 AM. As a CDL-A Driver, you will operate either a tractor trailer or a straight truck on various routes including intrastate and interstate, local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle runs, and overnight drives. The responsibilities encompass executing thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards, ensuring that freight is properly secured and all delivery paperwork is accurately completed. You act as the face of the company by providing excellent customer service, interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to cultivate trust and maintain strong business relationships.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 12 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A driver’s license
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Meet state licensing or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years
- Pass drug screening and background check
- Successfully complete road test
- Obtain or maintain valid DOT health certification
- Ability to lift and operate equipment for product handling throughout shift
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- Functions as a team member within the department and organization and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- Performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to the driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- At the end of the shift secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork
- Performs other related duties as assigned
