Other benefits include an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching contributions, education assistance, and generous paid time off. These offerings, combined with competitive compensation and growth opportunities, make Performance Foodservice an attractive employer for career-minded individuals who want to contribute to America's vital food supply chain.
The position of food and food service delivery driver at Performance Foodservice is critical to maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the country’s food distribution network. The drivers are responsible for delivering food and related products using tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop routes. They ensure that customers receive their orders on time, in good condition, and handled with care, effectively becoming the face of the company to the customer.
This role requires a high level of professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and colleagues to answer questions and provide excellent service. Drivers work as part of a team and are expected to maintain safety standards by performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. They are responsible for identifying and reporting any safety hazards, maintaining accurate paperwork, and securing freight properly throughout the entire delivery process.
The schedule for this position typically includes Monday through Friday, with dispatches averaging between 3-5 a.m. The role operates primarily on a day shift but may occasionally require weekend hours. This schedule supports the timely delivery needs of the business while maintaining a balanced work-life dynamic for employees. With earning potential exceeding $100,000, along with comprehensive benefits and a safe working environment, this role offers stable and rewarding employment.
The delivery driver duties include transporting food products safely, unloading items, verifying order accuracy, handling customer payments when required, and ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of delivery vehicles and work areas. Additionally, drivers must comply with all DOT regulations and company policies to maintain the highest standards of operational safety and professionalism.
Performance Foodservice promotes equal employment opportunities and values diversity in the workplace. Their inclusive culture supports employees from all backgrounds and provides a respectful environment where individuals can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the company's mission of delivering high-quality food products to America's communities.
