The work schedule is flexible with options for a 4- or 5-day workweek, including up to two nights away from home per week, providing a balanced approach to professional and personal life.
The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is a vital position supporting America’s food supply chain. Drivers are tasked with operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver food and related products safely and on schedule. They represent the face of the company, developing strong and lasting relationships with customers while ensuring optimal service delivery. Drivers perform mandatory pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company guidelines, and uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism during deliveries.
The position demands a high level of responsibility and skill, involving tasks such as verifying loads, checking and completing necessary paperwork accurately, loading and unloading freight, maintaining cleanliness and organization in vehicles and work areas, and immediately addressing safety hazards. Drivers may also be required to collect payments, handle customer returns, and perform general housekeeping duties to keep equipment and trailers in excellent condition. This role not only requires driving proficiency but also excellent communication and teamwork abilities, as drivers interact regularly with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction throughout the delivery process. The driver’s role is crucial in supporting the company’s reputation for reliability and quality service, making it a rewarding career path for those committed to excellence and safety within the food distribution industry.
