Job Description

Vistar is America’s leading candy, snack, and beverage distributor, operating more than 25 distribution centers across the United States. With a commitment to excellence, innovation, and community, Vistar delivers a wide range of products from popcorn to healthy meal replacements to customers nationwide. The company thrives due to its collaborative culture, which emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and giving back to the communities it serves. Vistar maintains a strong focus on exceeding customer expectations while fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment. As part of Performance Food Group or its subsidiaries, the company is dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without discrimination based on any legally protected status.

The CDL-A Delivery Driver position at Vistar is a critical role within the food supply chain, primarily responsible for transporting and delivering food and food-related products safely and efficiently. This role offers competitive compensation, starting at $30.90 per hour, along with quarterly safety bonuses and full benefits that include medical, dental, vision, and a 401K plan with employer matching. Drivers will generally work Monday through Friday, with limited regional overnight duties as needed. Vistar supports its drivers by providing newer equipment such as tractors and trailers equipped with liftgates and electric pallet jacks, making the unloading process safer and more efficient. Approximately 80% of deliveries are drop-and-go pallet deliveries, requiring minimal manual handling of products.

The CDL-A Delivery Driver serves as the company’s face to the customer, building strong, lasting relationships through professionalism and reliable service. Drivers are required to follow Department of Transportation regulations and company safety policies, perform detailed safety inspections of their equipment, and complete necessary reporting and documentation accurately. Their responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, adhering to delivery schedules, unloading products, verifying deliveries with acknowledgments, collecting payments when needed, and maintaining equipment cleanliness and security. This role demands a high standard of safety, attention to detail, and teamwork as drivers frequently interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers.

Additional benefits from Vistar include day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, education assistance, paid time off covering vacation, sick leave, personal days, medical leave, and recognized holidays. The company values employee growth, offering opportunities to advance within its essential food distribution network. Vistar’s dedication to a safe and inclusive workplace ensures that drivers experience a culture that rewards success, respects individual contributions, and champions diversity.
