Job Description

Vistar is a premier food and beverage distribution company that stands as America’s leading candy, snack, and beverage distributor. With more than 25 distribution centers strategically located across the United States, Vistar is committed to delivering a wide range of products, from popular snacks such as popcorn to healthy meal replacements, to customers nationwide. The company has built a robust and reputable presence by continuously innovating its services, exceeding customer expectations, and fostering a collaborative work culture. Vistar values teamwork, ethics, and community engagement, making it a respected leader in the food supply chain industry. Its commitment to an inclusive work environment and equal employment opportunity ensures a supportive and professional setting for all employees.

This role is specifically for an Hourly CDL-A Driver who will play an essential part in food service delivery, ensuring that products arrive safely and promptly to customers. Vistar offers a four-day workweek schedule with average departure times ranging from 2 am to 6 am, paying $28.50 per hour. The driver is responsible for operating a tractor trailer or straight truck across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. This position carries significant responsibility as the driver represents the face of Vistar, establishing strong relationships with customers while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

In this role, drivers perform vital duties such as conducting pre and post-trip safety inspections of their vehicles and trailers, ensuring all freight is securely loaded and meets safety standards, and documenting all relevant paperwork accurately. They are tasked with loading and unloading goods, verifying order accuracy, handling returns, and maintaining the vehicle and work environment in pristine condition. Drivers also must manage delivery records and comply with all federal and company regulations regarding hours of service. Safety is paramount, and all drivers are expected to immediately report hazards and follow company policies closely.

Vistar not only provides competitive pay but also offers comprehensive benefits from day one, including health and wellness programs, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and much more. Opportunities for growth within the company are robust, making this an ideal role for dedicated professionals seeking not only stable employment but also a career path in supporting America’s vital food distribution system. Vistar is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture, recognizing and rewarding employees for their hard work and dedication.
