Job Description
Performance Foodservice is the broadline distributor arm of Performance Food Group (PFG), a premier foodservice provider committed to supporting a diverse array of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. This company prides itself on cultivating close relationships with its clients through a dedicated team consisting of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts. These experts aid customers not only in the selection and delivery of high-quality food products but also provide vital advice on operational strategies, menu development, and business growth opportunities. Performance Foodservice goes beyond merely delivering food; it invests deeply in helping independent restaurant owners and other clients realize and achieve their business dreams, fostering lasting partnerships and client satisfaction through dedicated service and expertise.
The role offered is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver based at the company's new warehouse facility located at 8600 Springdale Avenue, St. Louis, MO. This position is primarily Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday shifts that start early in the morning. The role carries a competitive salary and a substantial $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates who have not been employed by a PFG-owned company within the last six months. The position offers rich benefits, including Day 1 Health and Wellness Benefits, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401(k) Employer Matching, Education Assistance, and Paid Time Off.
This driver position is critical within the food supply chain, as delivery drivers are responsible not only for the timely and safe delivery of food products but also serve as the public face of Performance Foodservice. Responsibilities include operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes effectively and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers ensure products are loaded, transported, and unloaded securely and in excellent condition, maintaining safety compliance and building rapport with customers during deliveries. Duties also involve verifying orders, managing paperwork, conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles, adhering strictly to safety protocols, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the work environment.
The job provides growth opportunities in a stable, essential sector with a culture emphasizing safety, inclusivity, respect, and rewarding employee performance. This role is ideal for professionals seeking steady employment with robust benefits while playing an indispensable role in America's food distribution system.
