Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline food distributor under the Performance Food Group (PFG) umbrella. The company partners with a diverse range of local clients, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Their approach goes beyond simply delivering food products; a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry professionals works closely with each customer to provide tailored advice on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and overall business improvement. This collaborative, customer-centric culture sets Performance Foodservice apart as a trusted partner in the foodservice industry.

Operating with a commitment to excellence, Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment. They provide competitive pay and comprehensive benefits from day one, fostering growth opportunities for employees who support America's essential food distribution network. The company proudly maintains equal employment opportunity policies, ensuring fair treatment and respect for all teammates regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics.

The available position is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, a vital role in the food supply chain. Drivers at Performance Foodservice are responsible not only for the safe and timely transportation of goods but also for serving as ambassadors of the brand by maintaining positive customer relationships. This is a full-time position offering an annual salary range from $80,000 to $85,000, with a schedule of Sunday through Thursday evenings, dispatching after 7 P.M., and a typical 4-5 day workweek.

New hires are also eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus, with $3,000 paid after 90 days and the remaining $7,000 paid on the first anniversary, subject to terms. This incentive underscores the company's commitment to attracting experienced and dedicated drivers to their team. However, individuals who have worked for a PFG-owned company within the last six months are ineligible for this bonus.

This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. Drivers must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations at all times, performing critical safety inspections and maintaining vehicle and freight safety standards. This hands-on job also requires physical ability to handle freight, operate equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers, and manage delivery documentation accurately.

The responsibilities encompass broader customer service functions such as performing count checks, verifying deliveries, collecting payments, and addressing delivery discrepancies like damages or returns. Drivers also contribute to maintaining clean and orderly working areas and ensure the security of freight and equipment throughout the delivery process. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication with customers and co-workers, and adherence to safety protocols.

Overall, this role offers the chance to be part of a respected company supporting a critical sector of the economy. Drivers here are empowered, valued, and share in the success of the company while expanding their career opportunities and professional skills within the food distribution sector.
