Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a premier broadline food distributor known for its dedicated service to a variety of local customers including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company is committed to building lasting relationships with clients by offering tailored advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and strategic growth. Employees at Performance Foodservice join a dynamic team comprised of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other professionals who work closely with customers to help them achieve their business goals. This inclusive environment encourages collaboration and support, with a focus on delivering not just food, but valuable guidance to bolster clients' success and operational excellence.
As a food and food service delivery driver at Performance Foodservice, you will play a vital role in the country’s food supply chain. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure timely and safe delivery of food products, acting as the face of the company during customer interactions. This position offers competitive hourly pay at $31.20 with paid weekly wages and a flexible 4- or 5-day work week. The role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drives. Safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are paramount, as drivers must conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate delivery records.
Beyond driving, the role requires excellent communication skills for professional interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers, supporting a culture of respect and recognition. Drivers are expected to function as team players within the organization, helping with loading and unloading products, verifying deliveries, handling payments when necessary, and reporting any safety or equipment issues immediately. The role also includes responsibilities for proper handling of freight, ensuring all products are secured and undamaged during transit, and completing relevant paperwork accurately and legibly.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes safety, with drivers tasked to uphold all DOT and company safety protocols. You will also be involved in daily housekeeping duties within the tractor, trailer, and loading dock areas to ensure a clean and safe work environment. At every shift’s end, securing equipment and completing necessary documentation is required. This comprehensive role offers growth opportunities while supporting a critical segment of America’s food distribution system. The company provides extensive benefits, including day-one health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K matching, education assistance, and paid time off, cultivating a rewarding workplace for its dedicated drivers and staff.
