Job Description
Vistar is a prominent American distributor specializing in candy, snacks, and beverages, with a widespread presence through more than 25 distribution centers across the United States. Known for its commitment to innovation, outstanding customer service, and a collaborative company culture, Vistar consistently exceeds customer expectations while fostering teamwork, integrity, and community engagement. The company supports communities by giving back and ensuring a supportive, inclusive, and respectful workplace environment for its employees. With a strong foothold in the food distribution industry, Vistar plays a crucial role in supplying a vast range of products — from popcorn to healthy meal replacements — to diverse customers who work, play, and shop nationwide.
The role of a CDL-A Driver at Vistar is essential to the company's mission and the country’s food supply chain. Employing drivers who are dependable, safety-conscious, and customer-oriented highlights the company’s focus on reliability and professionalism. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight assignments. Drivers are vital to ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food service products, maintaining excellent quality standards and customer satisfaction. They serve as the face of Vistar, nurturing lasting relationships with customers while adhering to strict Department of Transportation regulations.
This position requires drivers to perform safety checks, complete accurate paperwork, and handle freight loading, unloading, and securing responsibly. The CDL-A Driver must demonstrate proficiency in navigating delivery routes efficiently and managing customer interactions professionally. Work schedules include mandatory overnight shifts at least twice a week, reflecting the company’s commitment to meeting the demands of a dynamic distribution system. Vistar offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package including Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.
Vistar fosters career growth opportunities in a safe and inclusive environment that values rewards, recognition, and respect for every employee. The company prioritizes compliance with all federal, state, and company-specific regulations, ensuring adherence to DOT standards for drivers. Those joining Vistar can anticipate working in a culture that encourages teamwork and upholds a strong safety-first mindset. CDL-A Drivers can expect to engage in essential work that supports one of America’s largest food distribution systems, connecting communities with the goods they need every day.
