Job Description
Performance Foodservice (PFG) is a leading broadline food distributor dedicated to supporting America’s diverse foodservice industry. The company partners closely with various local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Utilizing a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other foodservice professionals, PFG goes beyond merely delivering products. The team provides expert advice that helps customers improve operations, enhance menu development, carefully select products, and optimize operational strategies. This customer-centric approach makes PFG a trusted partner for its clients, helping independent restaurant owners and other foodservice providers succeed in their businesses and achieve their dreams.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment that promotes a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. Benefits include competitive pay starting at $33.65 per hour paid weekly, day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and ample opportunity for professional growth. The company strives to engage employees in roles that support a critical part of America’s food distribution system, ensuring that essential products reach their destinations safely and on time.
The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at PFG is vital to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the food supply chain. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. The driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery and/or unloading of food and related products, adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers are more than just transporters; they represent the company’s face to customers by building lasting and positive customer relationships through professionalism and excellent communication.
Primary responsibilities include performing routine safety checks such as pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the trucks and trailers meet company and DOT safety standards, and reporting any identified issues promptly. Drivers must inspect trailers for correctly loaded and secured freight, check and verify customer invoices, complete all necessary paperwork accurately, and follow predetermined route delivery schedules. At the delivery sites, drivers unload products, transport them to designated storage areas, verify item deliveries with customers, collect payments when required, and ensure the security of freight and vehicle upon completion of delivery.
Additional duties involve unloading damaged goods and returns, completing daily logs in compliance with federal and state regulations, maintaining cleanliness in trailers and loading dock areas, and performing other related tasks as assigned. The role requires physical ability to handle and move product cases and freight ranging between 10 and 90 pounds, as well as the capability to use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates.
Performance Foodservice is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, color, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. The company fosters diverse and inclusive workplaces compliant with local, state, and federal laws, supporting a respectful and equitable environment for its workforce.
