Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor known for its strong relationships with a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and quick-service eateries. Operating at the heart of the foodservice industry, Performance Foodservice delivers not only food products but also expert advice and solutions that help improve customers' operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. The company prides itself on supporting independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers in achieving their goals through dedicated sales teams, chefs, consultants, and industry experts who build lasting partnerships.
Performance Foodservice stands out for its commitment to quality, reliability, and exceptional customer service. Its reputation is supported by a culture of safety, inclusivity, and respect within its workforce, fostering an environment of rewards and recognition. The company offers competitive pay and benefits that include day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and many growth opportunities. The working environment is designed to ensure employees feel valued and motivated while performing essential roles in America's food supply chain.
The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is critical for maintaining the seamless delivery of food products across various regions. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, ensuring timely and safe deliveries in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role not only demands technical driving skills but also requires excellent customer service capabilities as drivers represent the company on the front line, interacting with customers and building strong relationships.
Drivers must perform comprehensive safety checks on their vehicles, maintain accurate records, follow all federal and state regulations, and handle the loading and unloading of products, including managing damaged goods and customer returns. Safety, accuracy, and professionalism are paramount in this position. The company offers a five-day work week with availability Monday through Saturday, and dispatch times vary. Potential earnings can exceed $90,000 annually, complemented by a $2,000 sign-on bonus, although individuals who have worked for a PFG-owned company within the last six months are not eligible for this incentive.
Performance Foodservice’s drivers help ensure that food products reach diverse markets safely and efficiently while contributing to the company’s mission of delivering not just goods, but solutions and service excellence. This role is ideal for motivated individuals committed to safety, customer service, and operational excellence who want to be part of a growing team poised for success in the food distribution industry.
