Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, providing a wide range of food products and related services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, and other customers. With a strong emphasis on customer service and operational excellence, US Foods has built a reputation for reliability and quality within the foodservice industry. The company is known for its commitment to promoting from within, offering excellent training programs, and maintaining a culture focused on continuous improvement. Headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, US Foods has an extensive network that ensures timely delivery of a vast selection of products and solutions to clients nationwide.

The role of a US Foods Driver in Madison, WI, is critical to the company’s mission to deliver outstanding service and support to its customers. This position involves safely operating delivery trucks during early morning shifts from 2am to 5am, Monday through Friday, with four 10-hour workdays and daily overtime available after 10 hours. Drivers play an essential role in making sure food products are delivered on schedule, accurately, and in excellent condition. Besides the driving component, the driver is responsible for unloading products using tools such as a two-wheeler or pallet jack and placing them in designated storage areas at customer locations. Drivers also engage directly with customers to verify delivery accuracy, obtain signatures, and handle any collections when necessary.

Apart from the operational responsibilities, the role demands a high level of professionalism and customer service skills to enhance the client experience. Drivers conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position requires physical demands such as lifting and moving products weighing between 20 to over 80 pounds and the ability to work under various weather conditions with frequent stops throughout the shift.

Compensation for this position is competitive, starting at $34.04 per hour, with overtime pay for hours beyond the standard 10-hour workday. Benefits include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. This ensures that US Foods values and takes care of its drivers both on and off the road. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements, and have relevant commercial driving experience. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is mandatory.

This driving career at US Foods offers opportunities for growth, a dynamic work environment, and a chance to be part of a company that values teamwork, integrity, and community impact. Those who excel in this role can look forward to career advancement and making meaningful contributions in the foodservice delivery sector.
