This job opening is for an entry-level Driver Trainee position within Performance Foodservice, offering an exciting opportunity to join a leading company in America's food distribution system. Employment is structured as a full-time role, working 4 to 5 days a week from Monday through Saturday, starting early in the morning with flexible hours until the day's work is completed. After completing training, the pay rate averages $1600 per week, accompanied by a $2,500 sign-on bonus under certain eligibility terms. The Driver Trainee will be responsible for learning and gaining hands-on experience in operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries within intrastate and interstate transit zones. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • at least 6 months commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL A license
  • minimum age of 21 years
  • meet state licensing and certification requirements
  • clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • pass drug test after job offer
  • pass road test
  • current DOT Health Card
  • ability to hand-lift and use equipment for moving product cases

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6 plus months commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL A
  • must be 21 years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test
  • pass road test
  • attain or have valid current DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight generally ranging from approximately 60 to 90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program as required
  • ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries as required
  • perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete all required paperwork accurately
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined delivery schedules
  • unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • collect payments where required
  • secure tractor, trailer, and freight at all times
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • complete daily record of hours of service in compliance with DOT, state, and company requirements
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
  • perform other related duties as assigned
