The position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is an integral part of the country’s food supply chain. Drivers in this role are responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food products, making them the face of the company and vital contributors to customer satisfaction. This role demands a high level of professionalism in customer interactions as drivers build and maintain lasting relationships with clientele. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks primarily on local routes with a possibility of short layovers, often driving during early morning dispatch hours between 3 am and 5 am. With a 4-5-day workweek and the need for availability from Monday through Saturday, this role offers an earning potential upwards of $90,000 per year, reflecting the critical nature and demanding responsibilities of the position.
In this role, drivers ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including performing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle and trailer, securing freight, and maintaining accurate paperwork associated with delivery and transportation. Drivers are also responsible for unloading products, handling returns, and ensuring the overall security of the tractor, trailer, and freight. Beyond the hands-on delivery responsibilities, drivers are expected to perform general housekeeping tasks such as keeping trailers clean and clear, and completing daily log entries of hours in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
Performance Foodservice values growth opportunities and provides a range of competitive benefits encouraging employee wellness and professional development, including Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. The company fosters a safe, inclusive, and supportive working environment grounded in a culture of recognition, respect, and reward. This role not only offers a stable and rewarding career path but also the chance to play an essential part in supporting America’s food distribution system, contributing to the efficient delivery of products that feed communities nationwide.
