The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is an essential part of America’s food supply chain. These drivers help ensure that food products arrive at their destinations on time and in excellent condition, playing a vital role in maintaining the freshness and safety of consumables for customers across various sectors. This position offers a flexible 4-5 day workweek, generally requiring availability Monday through Saturday with dispatch times between 3 am and 5 am. The role involves primarily local routes, with occasional 1-2 day layovers, and offers an earning potential exceeding $90,000 per year.

Drivers are expected to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks safely on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, fulfilling essential transportation duties. In addition to driving, the role involves loading, unloading, and securing freight, verifying and completing delivery paperwork accurately, and following all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position requires a commitment to safety and professionalism, including performing pre- and post-trip inspections on vehicles, reporting any mechanical or safety issues immediately, and adhering to DOT and company policies. Drivers must also maintain documented logs of hours of service, handle customer interactions courteously, and perform housekeeping duties related to their equipment and work areas.

This is a physically demanding job that requires the ability to hand-lift and maneuver product cases weighing between 10 and 90 pounds, using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates as needed.
