Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), maintains a strong foothold in the foodservice industry through its extensive relationships with a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Performance Foodservice is not just a distributor but a partner to its clients, offering expert advice on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and ways to enhance overall business operations. The company boasts a dynamic team composed of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other food industry experts dedicated to supporting customers in achieving their business goals and dreams. This collaborative and customer-focused approach sets Performance Foodservice apart in the competitive food distribution sector, delivering not only quality products but also invaluable expertise and personalized service.
The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is an essential part of America’s food supply chain. These drivers help ensure that food products arrive at their destinations on time and in excellent condition, playing a vital role in maintaining the freshness and safety of consumables for customers across various sectors. Delivery drivers are often the face of the company, building lasting relationships and trust with clients through their professionalism and reliability. This position offers a flexible 4-5 day workweek, generally requiring availability Monday through Saturday with dispatch times between 3 am and 5 am. The role involves primarily local routes, with occasional 1-2 day layovers, and offers an earning potential exceeding $90,000 per year.
Drivers are expected to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks safely on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, fulfilling essential transportation duties. In addition to driving, the role involves loading, unloading, and securing freight, verifying and completing delivery paperwork accurately, and following all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position requires a commitment to safety and professionalism, including performing pre- and post-trip inspections on vehicles, reporting any mechanical or safety issues immediately, and adhering to DOT and company policies. Drivers must also maintain documented logs of hours of service, handle customer interactions courteously, and perform housekeeping duties related to their equipment and work areas.
This is a physically demanding job that requires the ability to hand-lift and maneuver product cases weighing between 10 and 90 pounds, using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates as needed. Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment that rewards dedication and fosters respect and recognition. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package that includes Day 1 health and wellness benefits, an inclusive Employee Stock Purchase Plan, employer matching on 401(k) plans, education assistance, paid time off, and ample opportunities for career growth and advancement. Joining Performance Foodservice means becoming part of a company that not only values your hard work but also supports your career development in the essential field of food distribution.
