The position of Catering Server at Sodexo, located within Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, offers an on-call part-time employment opportunity allowing flexibility with work hours during mornings, afternoons, and evenings on varying days. The pay range for this role is competitive, ranging from $20 to $22 per hour. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year related experience
  • minimum age to serve alcohol based on local regulations
  • compliance with alcohol-service certification if applicable
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to perform repetitive motions
  • physical capability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and use hands
  • attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 year related experience
  • must be at or over the minimum age to serve alcohol where applicable
  • may require valid TIPS, TEAM, or equivalent alcohol-service certification and compliance with state alcohol training requirements

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat guests, present menus, and introduce specials or menu changes
  • provide knowledgeable recommendations on meals, beverages, and wine, and answer questions about menu items, allergens, and preparation
  • accurately take and relay orders to the kitchen, confirm orders with guests, and process them in the correct sequence
  • check all items for quality and completeness, ensuring that presentations are attractive, appetizing, and consistent
  • monitor guest needs, respond to requests, and address concerns or complaints with professionalism
  • perform significant walking or other means of mobility
  • stand or walk for extended periods, often exceeding 8 hours
