The Catering Sales Manager position at Oak View Group is based at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. This key role is responsible for driving food and beverage sales revenue with a primary focus on exhibitor catering, retail activations, subcontractor and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) partnership activations, as well as small group business and short-term, single-day events. The manager will oversee the entire sales cycle from initial inquiry through contract execution and the successful delivery of events. This role commands an annual salary ranging from $55,000 to $60,000. The position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic venue environment where the manager will collaborate cross-functionally with culinary, catering, and operations teams to meet and exceed client expectations. Responsibilities include developing creative sales programming tailored to maximize retail revenue, preparing proposals and contracts, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. The Catering Sales Manager will also play a crucial role in building and sustaining relationships with key decision-makers and prospects through ethical and professional communication. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in hospitality, catering, event coordination, or sales support preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of POS systems
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in hospitality, catering, event coordination, or sales support preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency and successful experience in catering sales generation, contract negotiation and pricing, event scheduling, training, catering, banquets, and menu development
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on creating Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and email)
  • Working knowledge of point of sale (POS) systems
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends and evenings
  • Ability to adhere to a high standard of business etiquette and professional verbal and written communication
  • Ability to consistently represent the company in a professional, positive, and knowledgeable manner
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Lead exhibitor catering lifecycle from order coordination through execution
  • Maximize retail revenue through creative sales programming
  • Pursue and develop small group, short-term, single-day, and pop-up catering business
  • Prepare written proposals, evaluate business value of prospective events and clients, and initiate contractual arrangements
  • Oversee the full sales process from inquiry through booking, ensuring client needs are met with professionalism and creativity
  • Achieve established sales goals and objectives
  • Negotiate, author, and submit finalized contracts and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to clients and internal staff
  • Prepare sales folders, sales kits, and client correspondence
  • Ensure all required documentation is received from clients in a timely manner
  • Verify payments are received according to contracted schedules and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Enter and maintain complete and accurate information in the booking system
  • Communicate daily with food and beverage, culinary, catering, and operations staff regarding client needs and expectations
  • Assist with post-event follow-up to ensure all guest experience issues have been addressed
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers through professional, courteous, and ethical interaction
  • Independently source and pursue outside networking opportunities through industry resources, community events, and prospect-facing special events
  • Maintain client database and conduct consistent follow-up via in-person, phone, email, and other channels
  • Respond to all leads within OVG standards response time requirements
