Job Description

Currently, Flying Horse Resort and Club is seeking a Catering Sales Manager Level 1 (CSM-L1) to join their team. This full-time position is pivotal for driving revenue within the Catering department by focusing on high-value sales and managing complex event bookings. The role involves engaging with VIP and high-profile clients, creating comprehensive proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring flawless event execution. It requires exceptional attention to detail, advanced communication skills, and expertise in consultative selling and relationship management.

The CSM-L1 will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of distinguished events, contributing significantly to the resort's reputation as the premier destination for special occasions and corporate gatherings. Responsibilities include proactively pursuing new business opportunities, developing strategies to increase market share, coordinating with internal departments for seamless event delivery, and maintaining strong vendor partnerships.

Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously under pressure is crucial for success in this role, as is the ability to communicate professionally and effectively across various channels including phone, email, and in-person meetings. The CSM-L1 also plays a key role in the mentorship and onboarding of new team members, exemplifying leadership and a commitment to teamwork.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Catering and Conferences and work collaboratively to set and achieve sales goals, analyze performance metrics, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives. This position demands flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of event schedules.

Job Requirements

  • minimum of 2-5 years of progressive management experience in catering sales, event management, or hospitality sales at a full-service hotel or conference facility
  • proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and managing high-value client relationships
  • proficiency in event management software, crm systems and delphi
  • exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules

Job Duties

  • manage a portfolio of high-value and complex events, serving as the primary point of contact for vip and high-profile clients
  • proactively identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand market reach and exceed revenue targets
  • review emails, voice messages, and traces at the beginning of each shift, prioritizing tasks accordingly and ensuring timely follow-up on all inquiries
  • discuss daily activities, pipeline status, and specific targets with the director of catering and conferences, addressing any variances or escalations as needed
  • ensure no client communication goes unanswered by end of shift
  • prepare and deliver compelling proposals and contracts to clients, implementing strategic follow-up to maximize booking conversion rates
  • responsible for collecting accurate deposit amounts on each event and ensuring strict adherence to all accounting, billing policies, and procedures
  • conduct impactful site visits and client presentations, showcasing flying horse's unique offerings and value proposition
  • review final invoices for assigned events and conduct personalized follow-up to foster repeat business and long-term client loyalty
  • lead by example in maintaining high standards of professionalism, responsiveness, and client service excellence
  • support the onboarding and training of new catering sales team members as needed
  • demonstrate expert time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment, balancing phone calls, emails, proposals, contracts, site visits, and event coordination
  • coordinate staff line-ups for events, including introduction of clients to banquet leads and ensuring seamless event execution
  • collaborate with internal departments (culinary, operations, marketing, membership) to ensure flawless event delivery and client satisfaction
  • develop and maintain strategic vendor partnerships, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring quality service delivery
  • represent flying horse at networking events, industry functions, and trade shows when needed to elevate brand presence and generate leads
  • stay current on industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions to inform sales strategies and recommendations
