Embassy Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista South is a premier hotel and convention center known for its exceptional service and award-winning property. The hotel boasts 300 spacious suites combined with 40,000 square feet of versatile meeting, pre-function, and event space, making it an ideal destination for business and leisure travelers alike. Located in the vibrant Orlando area, this establishment caters to a diverse clientele, including corporate clients, wedding parties, and local event organizers. The management team is highly experienced, fostering a dynamic, fast-paced environment where high standards, expectations, and a strong results-oriented approach are paramount to success.

We are currently seeking an energetic and experienced Catering Sales Manager to join our distinguished team. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the high standards of service and operational excellence the property is known for. The Catering Sales Manager will focus on selling and managing small to intimate events such as weddings, special occasions, and local meetings. This position requires a professional passionate about the event and wedding industry with a strategic mindset for leveraging social media for lead generation and industry engagement.

The Catering Sales Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing catering events to ensure optimal guest satisfaction. This role involves working closely with clients to finalize booking details including food and beverage requirements, event setup, audiovisual needs, decor, rooming lists, and agendas. Responsibilities extend to thorough communication with all hotel departments to ensure seamless event execution through Banquet Event Orders and Resumes.

This is a multifaceted position that requires a creative problem solver able to think outside the box and provide innovative solutions to challenging scenarios. Outstanding customer service skills and genuine engagement with guests and associates are essential, fostering a hospitable and service-oriented atmosphere. The candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Effective listening, clear communication, and independent work ethic are key attributes for success in this role.

Additionally, the Catering Sales Manager will participate in industry trade shows, community events, and professional organizations to maintain the hotel’s visibility and attract new business opportunities. Collaboration with the Event Management, Sales, and Food & Beverage departments is crucial to maximize booking efficiencies and operational success. The role also entails building and maintaining relationships with vendors and keeping abreast of current market trends in food and beverage offerings.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience in a catering sales manager position or similar role
  • Passion for being immersed in event and wedding industry trends
  • Savvy knowledge of leveraging social media for solicitation, lead generation, and industry engagement
  • Growth mindset and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to think outside of the box and present creative solutions to challenging scenarios
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to genuinely engage with guests and associates in an attentive, friendly and courteous, service-oriented manner
  • Ability to make decisions based on established policies and procedures and guidance from DOC
  • Must be effective at listening, understanding, and clarifying inquiries
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload
  • Must be detail oriented, self-starter and able to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Required knowledge of function space configurations, room set-ups, maximizing space, art of negotiating, selling and menu planning

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or hotel management degree preferred
  • Experience in catering sales or similar role
  • Ability to communicate in the English language
  • Second language is a plus
  • Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of function space configurations, room set-ups, maximizing space, art of negotiating, selling and menu planning

Job Duties

  • Sell and service small/intimate events such as weddings, special occasion events and local meetings
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute catering events to ensure optimal guest satisfaction
  • Work with clients to obtain all final booking details, i.e., food and beverage, set up requirements, AV, décor, rooming lists and agenda
  • Communicate details for social events, weddings, and local catering through Banquet Event Orders and Resumes
  • Ensure site inspections, tastings and client visits to the hotel are successful by planning carefully and communicating accurate details in advance to all departments
  • Respond to leads and solicit new business opportunities
  • Ensure special requests are attended to in a timely manner
  • Anticipate client needs and provide timely communication and solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of all property offerings: food and beverage, room rental, meeting space layout, and capacities
  • When needed, participate in trade shows, community, and professional industry organizations to maintain high visibility/exposure for hotel
  • Work closely with Event Management, Sales, and Food & Beverage departments to maximize efficiencies of bookings and to set up operations for success
  • Create relationships with vendors as necessary
  • Maintain food & beverage knowledge in line with current market trends
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
