As a full-time, management-level position, the role is dedicated to enhancing the hotel's sales and marketing efforts within the competitive marketplace. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years college level courses with an emphasis on business or communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in hotel management, business administration, marketing or communications preferred
  • At least three years experience at a supervisor/manager level in guest contact areas of hospitality
  • Minimum two years previous experience in catering or event planning
  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
  • Able to make judgments in solving practical problems with limited standardization
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Knowledgeable in catering and events business including service and room styles
  • Possess TIPS, TABC Serve Safe and Texas Food Handler’s Card certifications
  • Ability to practice written safety standards
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands and arms, talk, hear and taste or smell
  • Able to operate electronic office devices
  • Ability to complete contracts in compliance with policies

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Responsible for revenue maximization and control of expenses through effective negotiation of services and accurate forecasting
  • Responsible for successful execution of all meetings and events to ensure customers remain loyal and book future business with hotel/company
  • Direct selling and solicitation of customers for day meeting business
  • Direct sales of day meeting packages
  • Represents the hotel to customers in executing negotiated group sales agreements including negotiating pricing and terms
  • Assists event management team in the execution of negotiated group sales agreement
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, and analysis related to group activity
  • Directs guest room, meeting, and event logistics to respective departments
  • Directs customer relationships proactively managing payment structures and room block management
  • Analyzes customers’ service and product needs and resolves concerns while maintaining profitability
  • Participates in department meetings and other internal/external meetings as directed
  • Prospects for new business and clientele through direct solicitation and networking
  • Stays current on catering trends and tourism
  • Identifies opportunities to increase revenue per square foot through specialized services and menu upgrades
  • Handles multiple customer and operational demands professionally under pressure
  • Operates independently with excellent time management and self-motivation
