We are currently seeking a dedicated Catering Sales & Service Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the success and growth of both social and corporate catering events at our hotel. The Catering Sales & Service Manager will be responsible for promoting and selling catering services that include banquet food and beverage, guest rooms, and related event services. The role requires an individual who can balance sales efforts equally between corporate group bookings and social events, contributing directly to maximizing hotel revenue. The manager must possess strong negotiation skills to handle arrangements such as menu planning, bar setups, and room layouts in accordance with hotel policies. Additionally, this position demands flexibility, as the manager’s work schedule will vary between Monday-Friday and Tuesday-Saturday based on event seasonality.

A key aspect of the role involves overseeing event execution by coordinating with various hotel departments including guest services, housekeeping, audiovisual, sales, and marketing to ensure seamless event operations and exceptional client satisfaction. The manager will be responsible for daily solicitation of new business, contract negotiation, and ensuring all event details are properly communicated across departments. They will also lead and train associates, fostering a cooperative teamwork environment that supports organizational goals.

The successful candidate will play a proactive role in identifying operational challenges and developing solutions using their knowledge of current event management trends and personalized customer service strategies. Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years catering sales experience or 2 years in hotel catering/convention services, banquet, hotel sales or culinary arts

Job Duties

  • Sell and detail social and corporate catering events with and without guest rooms
  • Negotiate with clients on menus, bar setup, room arrangements as per policy
  • Inform departments of event arrangements for successful execution
  • Solicit new business daily and review contracts
  • Coordinate local marketing efforts and facilitate communication before, during, and after events
  • Train and supervise associates as directed by management
  • Provide a safe work environment by following safety and security procedures
  • Identify operational challenges and develop solutions
  • Integrate current trends in event management and design
  • Work closely with sales team to maximize facility utilization
  • Improve customer service by integrating feedback
  • Maintain budgeted sales quotas
  • Create new ideas to increase catering revenue in low demand periods
  • Finalize Banquet Event Order Sheets and distribute
  • Offer personalized service to all groups
  • Solicit future business from current and past customers
  • Maintain a positive attitude and set an example
  • Foster teamwork across departments
  • Delegate responsibilities when applicable
  • Complete assignments by due dates
  • Review and update plans and objectives quarterly
  • Operate within standard policies and procedures
  • Meet or exceed booking, appointment, and solicitation goals monthly
  • Maintain records on cancellations and analyze quarterly
  • Review future bookings weekly with Sales and Marketing
  • Respond promptly to correspondence
  • Maintain catering/sales account database
  • Provide site tours of banquet facilities
  • Facilitate meetings as needed
  • Exercise discretion and judgment in handling guest complaints and employee issues
