Job Description

Chartwells Higher Education is a leading provider of on-campus dining services at over 300 colleges and universities across the United States. The position available is for a Catering Manager at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. This role offers a salary range of $50,000 to $55,000, along with full benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off (PTO), and a 401K retirement plan. The Catering Manager will lead the university's premiere catering department, overseeing all aspects of catering operations from menu development to event execution. This role requires a hands-on leader who can work collaboratively with the Executive Chef to design menus that meet an array of event needs, ranging from casual coffee services to high-profile VIP and Presidential events both on and off campus.

The Catering Manager will be responsible for supervising all catering events, ensuring that standards of service, quality, and sanitation are consistently met. They will oversee logistics, labor and food cost control, and training for catering associates in service techniques and customer relations. Excellent communication skills are necessary for maintaining strong relationships with clients, customers, management, and staff. This position demands availability for weekend and evening work to support the diverse schedule of events. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment, balancing operational oversight with creative menu planning and staff development.

Job Requirements

  • Education or high school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 2 years of food service experience including 1 year in management
  • catering experience required
  • ability to work weekends and after business hours
  • ServSafe certification
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to manage multiple events
  • proficiency in MS Office
  • ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
  • reliable and detail-oriented

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of food service experience including 1 year at the management level
  • experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, or related food service operations
  • catering experience
  • knowledge of food and catering trends focusing on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills
  • proficient computer skills including MS Office products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
  • ServSafe Certified

Job Duties

  • Supervises all catering events
  • involved in catering events operations including logistics, quality improvement, sanitation, and facility-related activities
  • works with the Chef in creating menus
  • trains catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and customer service
  • tracks and monitors labor and food cost for each event
  • communicates with management, clients, customers, and associates
  • assists in responsibility for all foodservice-related activities
  • performs other duties as assigned
