The Catering Manager position based in Jersey City, NJ, offers an exciting opportunity to lead the catering operations within a high-volume corporate dining environment. This role is vital for planning and executing corporate catering events seamlessly from start to finish, ensuring every detail is managed with precision. The Catering Manager will oversee all aspects of event logistics, including menu planning in collaboration with chefs, staff training, inventory management, and cost controls. Serving as a crucial partner to the Catering Director, the individual will also provide operational support and ensure high levels of client satisfaction through effective communication and hands-on leadership.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years catering management experience in a high-volume environment
  • proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • ServSafe Certification
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to multitask in fast-paced settings
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to physically perform catering duties
  • valid work authorization in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
  • at least 5 years of catering management experience in a high-volume setting
  • experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, fine dining, or related food service operations preferred
  • catering experience required
  • knowledge of food and catering trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills
  • ServSafe certification

Job Duties

  • Supervises and executes all catering events
  • involved in catering events operations including logistics, quality improvement, sanitation, and facility-related activities
  • works with the Chef in creating menus
  • trains catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and customer service
  • tracks and monitors labor and food costs for each event
  • communicates on various levels to include management, client, customer, and associate levels
  • maintains excellent client relationships
  • assists in all foodservice-related activities
  • performs other duties as assigned
