The Catering Manager role at Meriwether Godsey’s flagship seminary school location in Alexandria, VA, is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing and elevating all catering operations within the establishment. This full-time role offers a competitive yearly salary range of $70,000 to $75,000. This role demands hands-on involvement during high-volume periods, including bartending and food expediting, and requires close collaboration with the General Manager and Executive Chef to develop and uphold menus that align with the company’s brand identity. Job Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or 3-5 years of related experience in hospitality
  • 2+ years hands-on restaurant/bar management experience required
  • 2+ years of extensive catering management experience required
  • Working knowledge of restaurant/bar retail operations
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting and driving special food and beverage programs
  • Prior experience using and maintaining POS systems, cash handling, ordering, and inventory
  • Virginia’s Program (RSVP) and Managers’ Alcohol Responsibility Training (MART) certified (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Participative management style, emerging leadership skills, and strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while fostering strong client and customer relationships
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License and Personal Vehicle (mileage is reimbursed)

Job Duties

  • Manage all restaurant dining room, bar, and catering activities to optimize resource use and ensure smooth operations
  • Identify opportunities to expand restaurant and catering growth
  • Assist leadership in maintaining seasonal menu offerings according to customer demand
  • Tend bar and expedite food during high-volume periods
  • Set up and execute special programs for restaurant/bar operations following brand standards
  • Consult with customers to determine catering requirements and propose suitable options
  • Organize venues and equipment, supervise catering staff, and coordinate food preparation and serving during events
  • Coordinate transportation for food and equipment
  • Track catering and expense records accurately
  • Collaborate with General Manager and Executive Chef on menus for catering events ensuring brand compliance
  • Coordinate catering requirements among customers, chefs, and suppliers
  • Assist leadership with staffing assessment, purchasing, and inventory management for beer, wine, and spirits
  • Lead and develop direct reports and team members through support, coaching, feedback, and training
  • Foster an inclusive environment for staff, clients, and guests maintaining effective client and customer-centric relationships
  • Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings depending on catering needs
