The role of Catering Manager at Meriwether Godsey is a dynamic and multi-faceted position designed for someone who is passionate about food service and hospitality management. This pivotal role involves overseeing all catering operations as well as managing restaurant dining room and bar activities to ensure seamless and efficient service. The Catering Manager is responsible for resource optimization that aligns with the brand’s values and standards. They will play an essential role in identifying new opportunities for business growth in catering and restaurant services and assist leadership in maintaining seasonally appropriate menus that meet customer demands. This position requires direct hands-on involvement during peak times, including bartending and food expediting.

As a Catering Manager, the candidate will be expected to set up and execute special programs for restaurant and bar operations, adhering strictly to the Meriwether Godsey brand standards. They will consult directly with customers to understand their catering needs and propose tailored catering solutions, manage event logistics such as venue setup and food service coordination, and ensure efficient transportation arrangements for catering equipment and food delivery. Responsibilities also include tracking catering records and expenses meticulously, collaborating with the General Manager and Executive Chef on menu offerings, and maintaining consistency in company branding, recipes, and presentation. The role requires a strong ability to coordinate with customers, kitchen staff, and suppliers to deliver exceptional events.

In addition to operational duties, the Catering Manager will assist in evaluating staffing requirements, purchasing, and inventory management for beverages, including beer, wine, and spirits, for both restaurant and catered events. Leading by example with a participative management style, the Catering Manager will engage and develop direct reports and team members through continuous support, coaching, and training initiatives. The role demands fostering an inclusive, client-focused environment that promotes positive relationships with staff, clients, and guests alike. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or 3-5 years related experience in hospitality
  • 2+ years hands-on restaurant/bar management experience
  • 2+ years extensive catering management experience
  • Working knowledge of restaurant/bar retail operations
  • Prior experience using and maintaining POS systems, cash handling, ordering, and inventory
  • Virginia’s Program (RSVP) and Managers’ Alcohol Responsibility Training (MART) certified or ability to obtain
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Manage all restaurant dining room, bar, and catering activities to achieve optimal use of resources and assure smooth operations
  • Identify opportunities to expand restaurant and catering growth
  • Assist leadership in maintaining seasonal offerings to meet customer demand
  • Tend bar and expedite food during high-volume times
  • Set up and execute all special programs for restaurant/bar operations adhering to MG branding standards
  • Consult with customers to determine catering requirements, organize venues/equipment, supervise staff, and coordinate food preparation and serving during events
  • Coordinate transportation for food and catering equipment
  • Track catering records and maintain expense records
  • Collaborate on menus for catering events with General Manager and Executive Chef ensuring adherence to brand, recipes, and presentation
  • Assist leadership in assessing staffing needs, purchasing, and maintaining inventories for beer, wine, and spirits for restaurant and catered events
  • Lead by engaging and developing direct reports and team members through ongoing support, coaching, feedback, and training
  • Foster inclusive environment for staff, clients, and guests while maintaining customer-centric relationships
  • Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings depending on catering needs
