At Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, Sodexo Magic is seeking a skilled and experienced Catering Manager 2 to lead and enhance the campus catering program. Morgan State University, fondly referred to as “The National Treasure,” is recognized for hosting a wide variety of academic, social, and professional events throughout the year. These events generate significant demand for premium catering services that uphold the university’s tradition of excellence and contribute positively to student and guest experiences.
The Catering Manager 2 plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and managing all catering services across the campus. This position requires a blend of operational management, customer service, and team leadership skills to ensure that each event, whether a small meeting, large-scale conference, or academic ceremony, runs smoothly and exceeds expectations. The Catering Manager will collaborate closely with dining leadership, culinary staff, and campus partners to align menus, staffing, and logistics with event objectives. Key responsibilities include overseeing event execution from setup to cleanup, supervising and training catering personnel to maintain high standards of presentation and service, and managing administrative tasks such as billing reconciliation and inventory control.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of management experience
- Experience facilitating communication between sales, culinary, and front-of-house teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of all orders
- Ability to maintain staff payroll and scheduling using Kronos
- Attention to detail in reviewing catering event orders and weekly sheets
- Ability to provide solutions to client queries while adhering to catering policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of management experience
- Experience facilitating communication between sales, culinary, and front-of-house teams
- Ability to adhere to timekeeping and labor cost control procedures
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle client queries with positive and practical solutions while adhering to catering policies
Job Duties
- Manage and assist with all aspects of campus catering operations, supporting events ranging from small meetings to large-scale functions, including student programs, academic ceremonies, admissions events, and external conferences
- Coordinate event logistics, including setup, service timelines, staffing, equipment, and event flow, ensuring flawless execution
- Lead, train, and supervise catering staff, providing on-site direction and ensuring consistent service excellence and professional presentation
- Partner with culinary teams to ensure menus are executed to standard, including presentation, quality, portioning, and timely service
- Support catering billing and administrative processes, including reviewing BEOs, verifying charges, preparing invoices, and tracking billing accuracy across internal and external clients
- Maintain catering inventory, equipment, and supply levels, ensuring all activities comply with health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Build strong campus relationships through effective communication, responsiveness, and the ability to adapt to changing event needs in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
