Job Description
The Biltmore Hotel, a renowned establishment in the luxury hospitality industry, is dedicated to providing exceptional catering and conference services to its diverse clientele. Known for its commitment to excellence, the hotel elegantly blends tradition with modernity, offering memorable experiences through meticulous event management and outstanding customer service. As a part of this prestigious team, employees are held to high standards of professionalism, ethical conduct, and customer engagement. The company's dedication to guest satisfaction and operational excellence makes it a leader in hospitality services, attracting professionals who thrive in dynamic and demanding environments. The Biltmore Hotel ensures its workforce upholds its esteemed reputation through consistent adherence to established policies and procedures demonstrated in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOPs).
The Catering Manager plays a pivotal role within the Catering and Conference Services department, overseeing all aspects of event sales and service to meet and exceed client expectations. This position requires a proactive, energetic, and creative individual capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high ethical standards and a professional presence. Catering Managers are responsible for coordinating the entire event lifecycle, from selling and contracting to onsite execution and post-event wrap-up. They interact extensively with clients, internal teams, and various departments to ensure seamless event delivery and customer satisfaction. The role demands strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key responsibilities include creating client proposals, contracts, and Banquet Event Orders, billing and collecting payments, and building strong relationships with clients and vendors. The Catering Manager must also be adept at adapting to crisis situations and operational changes, contributing to overall team success by identifying and implementing improvements in performance and efficiency. Onsite presence at events and participation in sales calls, including occasional local travel, are essential components of the job. The position requires flexibility to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the needs of the business.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least five years of professional experience in hospitality, client services, operations, and event planning. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with technology platforms such as Delphi and Salesforce is preferred. Strong communication skills in English, advanced typing abilities, mathematical competency, and problem-solving acumen are critical. This role also demands a high level of professionalism, discretion in handling confidential information, and the ability to prioritize and coordinate several projects effectively.
Physically, candidates should be able to perform various tasks involving lifting, standing, walking, and operating office equipment with dexterity. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations are vital for success. The Catering Manager must embody the Biltmore values, including attentiveness, reliability, resourcefulness, and a guest-focused approach. This role does not require specific licenses or certifications but expects employees to maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance in line with hotel standards. Successful individuals are team-oriented, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering outstanding service, thereby enhancing the overall reputation and success of the Biltmore Hotel.
